A videoconference concerning preparations for the retreat session of the Group of strategic vision "Russia - Islamic World" in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah in November of this year was held on October 18.
The parties discussed a number of organizational and technical issues and the Saudi side promised to "make the arrival and stay of the foreign participants of the meeting in Saudi Arabia as comfortable as possible", despite the restrictive measures related to the spread of the coronavirus infection.
The meeting participants agreed on further implementation of the preparation plan for the meeting of the Group, acting in close working contact.
Earlier, a representative Saudi delegation, including senior officials from the foreign ministry and a number of other relevant ministries and agencies, visited Moscow on September 23.
The current meeting was held in an expanded online format. Fahd bin Asaad Abu al-Nasr, Deputy foreign minister for public diplomacy of the KSA (moderator), Sultan bin Abdullah al-Sultan, Secretary-general for conferences of the Ministry of foreign affairs, Abdulilah Khaled Al-Bleikhd, Head of the diplomatic service at the Ministry of the interior, Abdurahman Al Ahmad, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Russian Federation, permanent members of the Group from Saudi Arabia, representatives of other ministries and agencies involved in the organization of the retreat session of the Group participated from the Saudi side.
The Russian side was represented at the meeting by deputy Chairman of the GSV "Russia - Islamic World", Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, deputy chairman of the Russian Federation Council Committee on International affairsFarit Mukhametshin (moderator), Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sergey Kozlov, Special representative of the Russian foreign minister for cooperation with the Islamic world Konstantin Shuvalov, Elmira Sadykova, executive director of the Foundation for strategic dialogue and partnership with the Islamic world, Gazinur Bakirov, Assistant to the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as employees of the International relations department of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic world" and the Department of external relations of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan.
