Spiritual support and humanitarian assistance to migrants will be one of the priorities of the Islamic community of the Russian capital, including the Zakat Muslim Charity Foundation, the head of the Foundation Rafis Izmailov told RIA Novosti.
"The suspension of work due to the coronavirus epidemic of many enterprises and organizations, including the construction sector, has raised the issue of immediate support for migrants and their families who live in the Russian capital," the Agency quoted the head of the Foundation as saying.
Today, according to Izmailov, food aid has been provided to more than 500 families from the CIS - Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.
"These are food, goods for daily use. In addition, together with the Religious Board of Muslims in Moscow, we also provide them with spiritual assistance, because many of the migrants are in a depressed state, many have no money to pay the rent," Izmailov said.
Previously, Russian Muslims, according to him, provided support to co-religionists in Syria, Lebanon, Chad, Bangladesh and other countries.
Rafis Izmailov called on the embassies of the CIS countries to pay attention to possible humanitarian work addressed to people from Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan together with the Islamic community of the Russian capital.
