Moscow to host the second Caspian economic forum in 2021

The second Caspian economic forum will be held in Moscow in 2021, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with Kazakh Foreign Minister Mukhtar Tleuberdi.


"A lot of attention was paid to cooperation in the Caspian sea. The second Caspian economic forum will be held in Moscow next year. And at the same time we are preparing for the sixth summit of the Caspian sea. A very solid package of documents is being drawn up for this event, for this summit, " he said.


The Minister stressed that Russia and Kazakhstan are united in the need to continue strengthening cooperation within the "Caspian five" (Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan), which "bears the main responsibility for ensuring security, transport connectivity, environmental protection, tourism development, and scientific ties in the Caspian region".


The first Caspian economic forum was held on August 12, 2019 in Turkmenistan.
