"Islam on a postcard in the Russian Empire of the late XIX early XX century" exhibition will be held in the exhibition hall of the Moscow Cathedral mosque.
As the press service of the Russian Muftis Council, the exhibition opens on September 20 and is timed to the 115th-anniversary of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, the 25th-anniversary of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, the 20th-anniversary of the Moscow Islamic Institute and the 60th anniversary of mufti Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin.
"We can say that until 1917 the postcard was an illustrated Russian encyclopedia that introduces people to the views of cities, temples, national and social types, art, events and many other topics. Russia learns itself by means of cards", reads the message.
