Russian pilgrims have successfully performed the main rites of Hajj in Saudi Arabia without any incidents or tragic cases reported. This was stated by Deputy Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia (RBM RF), Mufti Rushan Abbyasov, in an interview with TASS.
Earlier, Reuters reported that 14 pilgrims from Jordan died during Hajj in Saudi Arabia, with another 17 people reported missing.
"I spoke with our tour operator leaders – thank God, our pilgrims completed the main Hajj rite, the standing on Mount Arafat, and everything went smoothly. Thank God, there have been no incidents, and we have not heard of any injured Russians," said Abbyasov.
According to the Russian Hajj Mission, almost 25,000 Russian Muslims participated in the pilgrimage to the holy sites of Islam in Mecca and Medina in 2024. Among them were 400 veterans of the special military operation and their family members. The groups of Russian pilgrims were accompanied by medical workers. The completion of the Hajj rites marks the celebration of the Feast of Sacrifice, Eid al-Adha, which Muslims celebrate from June 16-18.
