Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Russian Federation Kazem Jalali, Chairman of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia Albir Krganov, Chairman of the Board of the Islamic Culture, Science and Education Support Foundation Yevgeny Yeremin and others took part in the conversation.
The participants discussed the relations between Russia and Iran, other Muslim countries, cooperation in scientific research, experience in preserving ethnic and cultural diversity, and interethnic and interreligious harmony in society.
The holding of the forums attached great importance to the celebration of the 1,100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of the Volga Bulgaria in Russia.
Farit Mukhametshin informed about the meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World", which took place in Kazan in May this year simultaneously with XIII International Economic Forum "Russia - Islamic World". "The holding of these forums attached great importance to the celebration in Russia of the 1,100th anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by the peoples of Volga Bulgaria," the parliamentarian stressed.
According to Farit Mukhametshin, the adoption of Islam by the Volga Bulgaria was one of the milestones in the history of Russia and had a significant impact on the formation of the country as a multinational state. For centuries, Russian Muslims have been making a significant contribution to the country's development.
The senator stressed the importance of using Iran's experience in economic development in the current international situation. It is also planned to hold one of the meetings of the GSV "Russia - Islamic world" in one of the countries next year, devoting it to the theme of the Islamic economy, said Farit Mukhametshin.
Hamid Shahriari pointed to the common interests of Russia and Muslim countries in opposing "liberal pseudo-values" of the West. "We could oppose this within the framework of the diversity of cultures. We believe that any culture should have the opportunity to present itself, people should have the opportunity for freedom of the choice ".
