Muslims of the Russian capital will deliver food packages to the elderly

30 March 2020

A campaign to support elderly fellow believers on the week-off, initiated by the Spiritual administration of Muslims in Moscow and the Zakat charity Fund, is launched in Moscow. This was stated by the head of the Fund Rifat Izmailov in an interview for RIA Novosti.

"Elderly Muslims strictly follow the relevant orders of the Mayor of the capital, Sergey Sobyanin, to combat coronavirus, so they stay home. And they need support, and not only, for example, food delivery, but also simple communication. We can do this over the phone or Skype... In these difficult days, it is important for Muslims that our grandparents are not being left behind. At the same time, it is necessary to follow measures to prevent the disease, and we will definitely take this into account when delivering aid", the Agency quotes the head of the Fund, in particular.

From March 28 to April 5 in Moscow, by decree of the Mayor Sergey Sobyanin, restaurants, cafes, retail facilities, with the exception of pharmacies and stores with food and essential goods, are closed.
