The West is trying to destabilize the situation in the world by provoking conflicts on the borders of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and is using these situations to weaken Russia and try to destroy the CIS, Sergei Naryshkin, Director of the Russian Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), said on Friday at a meeting of heads of security and intelligence agencies of Commonwealth member states in Moscow.

Greater Eurasia and the post-Soviet space are "critically important" for Western countries to provoke such conflicts, he said. "How effective are they? I would put it this way: the West, the United States, use these conflicts to weaken Russia, to try to destroy or weaken the CIS," Naryshkin said.
