NATO: Russia and the West need to maintain more closer contacts

15 April 2019

The Commander-in-Chief of the NATO Joint Armed Forces in Europe General Curtis Scaparotti, in an interview for the Associated Press stated that the West needs to maintain closer contacts with Russia.

The armed confrontation can be occurred if the parties don’t communicate proactively, he said.

“During the Cold War, we understood each other’s signals. We talked. I am concerned that today we don’t know them as well”, the agency quotes the General, in particular.

According to Scaparotti, the active interaction of the parties is “an important part of controlling”. Meanwhile such interaction “doesn’t have to be much”, he noted.
