Nebenzya Accuses Ukrainian Intelligence of Arming Syrian Militants at UN Security Council

04 December 2024

Ukrainian military intelligence (GUR) has been supplying weapons, including drones and GPS systems, to militants of Hay'at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), a terrorist organization banned in Russia, according to Vasily Nebenzya, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations.

“Earlier today, reports surfaced of Ukrainian operatives being spotted alongside HTS fighters at a research facility in Aleppo Province,” Nebenzya stated, speaking at a UN Security Council session on Syria. “The militants are not just acknowledging Ukraine’s support—they are openly flaunting it. We’ve previously shared evidence that Ukrainian intelligence has been arming these fighters in Idlib with drones and encrypted GPS modules. At the time, many, including Western experts, dismissed our claims. However, the events of November 27 have proven our information to be accurate,” he said.
