Earlier, the UN experts had issued a report claiming that Russia was violating the arms embargo against Libya, despite repeated denials of such fabrications by the Russian Foreign Ministry. In addition, citing "open sources," they claimed the presence of Russian citizens in the country as part of the private military company Wagner.
"We have repeatedly said that there is no Russian military in Libya, and if any of our citizens are present in Libya, they do not represent the Russian state," he said on Wednesday at a Security Council meeting on the situation in Libya. "By the way, it has also been repeatedly said about the unreliability of the [UN] group of experts, who are not bothering to double-check the information "leaked" to them from open sources. And it is very easily refuted, which was done by Russian journalists." the diplomat stressed.
He advised his colleagues in the Security Council to "pay attention to the conclusions of a group of experts that their own citizens are actively weaponizing Libya." "It is clear that some such operations cannot be conducted without the support of governments," Nebenzya pointed out. - "So instead of this reasoning, it would be a good idea to look in the mirror."
During the meeting, British Permanent Representative to the United Nations Barbara Woodward denounced the presence of mercenaries in Libya, including, according to her statements, from PMC Wagner.
