The responsibility for a potential escalation in the Middle East following Israel's strike on Iranian diplomatic facilities in Syria will squarely lie with the US, Britain, and France. Instead of condemning the attack, these nations chose to label the victims of the strike. Vasily Nebenzya, Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, made this assertion during a meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC).
"There is no justification for urging others to de-escalate while simultaneously labeling the victims of this attack as aggressors. In this context, any escalation of the situation will be solely attributable to your actions," he stated, directing his remarks at Western representatives among the five permanent members of the Security Council.
"In the speeches of the United Kingdom and the United States, one could discern not only insinuations but also explicit references suggesting that Iran and Syria bear responsibility for Israel's strike on the Iranian consulate. It's difficult to conceive of a more blatant act," Nebenzya emphasized.
