20 December 2019

Diplomat John Sullivan, the new U.S. Ambassador to Russia, gave an interview to Bloomberg and said that during his work in Moscow he intends to pay special attention to the ties between Russia and the United States in the fight against terrorism.

The diplomat "will look for those areas where the parties can cooperate", in particular, on the exchange of information on terrorists and issues related to arms control.

"We expect the Russian government to take seriously its obligations to protect the world from dangerous terrorist groups such as ISIS, al-Qaeda*", the diplomat said.

The first Deputy Secretary of state Sullivan was appointed Ambassador to Russia by the US Senate last week.
