A new batch of the Russian coronavirus vaccine, Sputnik V, arrived in Iran on Thursday. This was reported by the Tasnim news agency.
According to its data, this time 100,000 doses of the Russian drug were delivered to the republic.
In late June, the Iranian Ambassador to Russia Kazem Jalali said after consultations with the Russian side that Iranian authorities expect to increase exports of the Sputnik V vaccine. The first batch of Sputnik V arrived in Tehran on February 4, and on February 9 Iran began free voluntary vaccination against coronavirus using the Russian drug. In addition, Iran became the first state in the Middle East region to begin production of the Russian drug.
In addition to the Russian Sputnik V, the Chinese company Sinopharm, the Indian company Bharat Biotech, the British-Swedish company AstraZeneca, and the Iranian development COV Iran Barakat are used for vaccinations in Iran.
On Tuesday, Iran recorded an anti-record since the beginning of the pandemic for the number of people infected in a day - 34,951, the IRNA news agency reported. The total number of infected people in the country reached 3,826,447. More than 3,329,000 patients have recovered, 90,074 have died and 5,290 patients are in intensive care.
According to Iran's Ministry of Health, 11,808,230 people have so far been vaccinated in the country, of whom 9,180,089 have received one dose of the coronavirus vaccine and 2,628,141 have received two doses.
