New Russian ambassador to Azerbaijan presents credentials to Aliyev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has received the credentials of the new Russian ambassador to the republic, Mikhail Yevdokimov. The press service of the Azerbaijani leader reported this.

 

"On August 10, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ilham Aliyev, received the credentials of the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to our country Mikhail Yevdokimov," the statement on the official website of the Azerbaijani president reads.

 

During the conversation, it was highlighted that the friendly relations between Azerbaijan and Russia are thriving across various domains. Aliyev and Yevdokimov underscored the robust cooperation between Baku and Moscow in political, trade-economic, energy, transport, humanitarian sectors, as well as in matters concerning regional security.

 

"The role of interactions between the heads of the two states in bolstering relations was acknowledged, and there was confidence that the bilateral connections will further flourish. Furthermore, the discussions centered on the progress of mending relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, along with the present status of negotiations for a peace treaty," the statement outlined.

 

On July 18, Yevdokimov held a meeting with Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov. During their discussion, the new head of the Russian diplomatic mission highlighted his dedication to fostering the ongoing development of the longstanding friendly relations between the two nations.

 

Yevdokimov's appointment as the Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan was officially announced on June 14. He succeeded Mikhail Bocharnikov, who had been stationed in Baku since 2018. Born in 1959, Yevdokimov holds the diplomatic title of ambassador extraordinary and plenipotentiary. Starting from 2011, he has held the position of director of the first department of the CIS countries at the Russian Foreign Ministry, overseeing multilateral cooperation within the association.
