The BRICS summit in Kazan marked a clear success for Russia and showcased its role as a catalyst for a new international community, according to an analysis by the American magazine Newsweek.
The summit was described as the largest international gathering of Global South and East countries since the onset of the Ukraine conflict. While participants may not agree on every issue, their presence in Kazan underscored the event’s significance in a shifting global landscape.
Newsweek highlighted how BRICS has evolved into a dynamic alliance, symbolizing the rapid shift from a primarily Western-centered world order toward greater decentralization. The article stressed that BRICS is not an anti-Western group, as most of its members maintain extensive ties with Western countries and intend to preserve them. Instead, BRICS offers an alternative framework, allowing member states to pursue their own paths toward specific goals.
