President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced during the 10th meeting of the leaders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana that the next summit of the organization will take place in Kyrgyzstan in 2024.
"The 11th summit of the Organization of Turkic States will take place in Kyrgyzstan," he announced.
Previously, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov had expressed his country's readiness to host the summit in 2024, stating, "The Republic of Kyrgyzstan is prepared to host the next OTS summit in 2024. I would like to take this opportunity to extend an invitation for your participation in the 11th OTS meeting in Kyrgyzstan."
The president highlighted that the current summit was being held during a "crisis time" and emphasized, "We have the necessary resources, including political will and significant economic potential, to accomplish the objectives we've set for ourselves."
Zhaparov also suggested the active development of "tourist routes" within the organization and proposed declaring the Kyrgyz regional center of Jalal-Abad as a "tourist center of the Turkic world" by 2025.
He emphasized the importance of OTS countries working together to develop economic potential and promote sustainable development. To this end, Zhaparov called for strengthening cooperation in the field of digital transformation and recommended establishing working groups to implement the concept, especially in collaboration between postal operators of member countries.
"I urge the creation of more favorable conditions for manufacturers and businessmen from Turkic states. The organization of business forums demonstrates the shared interest in realizing joint projects," emphasized the president of Kyrgyzstan.
At the conclusion of the summit in Astana, leaders of the Organization of Turkic States signed a declaration and the Astana Act. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev put forward an initiative to award President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev with the Supreme Order of the Turkic World in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of Turkic peoples. Uzbekistan currently holds the chairmanship of the OTS, and at the summit, the chairmanship was passed to Kazakhstan for the next year.
The OTS comprises Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, and Uzbekistan, with Turkmenistan and Hungary participating as observers.
