Former President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev revealed the reason why he resigned

2.5 months after his resignation, the first President of Kazakhstan decided to tell what prompted him to leave the highest state post he held for almost 30 years.

 

 

During the meeting of the Senate, Nursultan Nazarbayev characterized his decision to leave as “normal” and “verified”, noting that it was made by him for the stability of the state and out of concern for the future of the Republic. He also stressed that after retirement, he received many letters and calls from world leaders.

 

 

Nazarbayev stressed that by his act he set an example for solving the issue of power transit.

 

 

On March 19, 2019, Nazarbayev announced his decision to resign. The successor of the first president is Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who initiated the renaming of the capital of Kazakhstan to Nur-Sultan.

 

 

Nazarbayev has the title of leader of the nation. In addition, he is also the head of the ruling Nur Otan party and the life-long leader of the Security Council of Kazakhstan.
