Obama's remarks on Crimea have rational grounds - Peskov

23 June 2023

Former US President Barack Obama's remarks on Crimea contain rational grounds, Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov said.

"Indeed, it is not up to us to comment on these statements. Certainly, these are rational grounds," the spokesman said when asked by reporters to comment on the former US leader's remarks on Crimea.

"There (in Ukraine - TASS) was quite a large political faction that really supported the idea of developing good relations with Russia and was against the spread of Russophobia," Peskov said, clarifying: "Not just a certain part, but practically the entire population of Crimea wanted to become part of the Russian Federation, this is also not a secret." "So we see that from time to time some rational opinions do come up," the spokesman for the Russian president added.
