Member countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) are calling for peace and taking steps to find a negotiated settlement to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha said on Monday at a joint press conference following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and other OIC member states are taking steps to find ways to peacefully resolve the conflict between Russia and Ukraine," he said. - "We call for peace, for negotiations and an end to hostilities in the interests of all peoples of the region."

The OIC secretary-general drew attention to the fact that other countries, in particular many African states, are also suffering as a result of the conflict in Ukraine. "This conflict has very negative and far-reaching consequences for the whole world and especially for the most disadvantaged countries, which are experiencing difficulties every day while the war is going on. We hope it will end soon," he stressed.
