21 June 2019

The situation around Iran is teetering on the brink of war. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov said about it in an interview.

“I do not undertake to assess what really happened in the last hours in this connection, but it is clear from the information that comes in that the situation is extremely dangerous. I would call it balancing on the brink of war”, - he noted when answering the question about the relationship between Washington and Tehran.

Earlier today, it became known that US President Donald Trump ordered the launch of missile strikes on Iranian territory, but later canceled the operation.

A new round of tension in relations between Washington and Tehran was caused by the shot down of American drone day before at the entrance to the Persian Gulf,  in the south of the Islamic Republic.

Tehran claimed that the drone entered in Iranian airspace. In this regard, the authorities of the Islamic Republic sent a complaint to the UN.

At the same time, Washington states that the drone was in international airspace and did not cross the borders of Iran.
