On Victory Day Kyrgyzstan to hold solemn meeting and Immortal Regiment

Several events timed to the 78th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War will be held in Kyrgyzstan on May 9. This was reported to TASS on Wednesday by the cabinet of ministers of the republic.


"On May 9, 2023, the official ceremony of laying wreaths at the Eternal Flame with the participation of the country's leadership and representatives of the diplomatic corps will be held on Victory Square in Bishkek," said an employee of the office.


On Victory Day, the country plans to hold The Immortal Regiment campaign. The procession will take place in several cities, including Bishkek and the regional centers of Karakol, Naryn, Osh, Jalal-Abad, Talas and Batken, as well as Kant, Kara-Balta and Tokmak (Chuy region). Tens of thousands of the country's residents traditionally take part in this event every year.


Also several events on the Victory Day will be held in some settlements of Kyrgyzstan with the support of the Russian embassy.


A requiem meeting and a concert for veterans-blockade victims will be held in the Soviet Hero Dair Asanov Victory Park in Bishkek on May 4. School and student units of the Kyrgyz branch of the Victory Volunteers organized by the republican society of Leningrad blockade survivors will participate in the event.


The Russian embassy in Kyrgyzstan told TASS that the "Flame of Memory" campaign supported by Rossotrudnichestvo and the "Popular Front" public movement plans to hold a rally-concert and a ceremony to hand over the capsule with the Eternal Flame from the memorial in Alexandrovsky Garden in Moscow to "patriotic youth and veteran community organizations of Kyrgyzstan on May 6-8."
