Militants from the Islamic State terrorist group (IS, banned in Russia) have launched an attack on Syrian government forces in the Deir ez-Zor province, situated in the eastern part of the Arab republic. The violent incident resulted in the tragic loss of twenty-three lives, as reported by the Sky News Arabia television channel.
The attack specifically targeted a bus carrying military personnel, as indicated by the channel's information. Alongside the fatalities, several other military personnel sustained injuries during the assault. However, the exact number of those injured has not been disclosed at this time.
