Over 400 Companies from 50 Countries to Participate in Egypt's EDEX-23 Arms Exhibition

04 December 2023

More than 400 companies from around 50 countries are participating in EDEX-2023 (Egypt Defense Expo), an international defense and military industry exhibition taking place in Egypt's new administrative capital. The event, being held for the third time and running until December 7, showcases the latest technologies and solutions in the fields of defense and security, as well as equipment used on land, sea, and air.

The head of the Egyptian Ministry of Defense, Mohamed Ahmed Zaki, emphasized at the opening ceremony that "the exhibition serves as an exchange of experiences with the objectives of developing relations between countries in the fields of defense and military industries, enhancing capabilities to protect national security, and deepening security partnerships and cooperation with brotherly and friendly countries." He further stated, "Manufacturing companies will offer weapons and equipment to be purchased by the governments of brotherly and friendly countries to support their armed forces and deterrence in order to preserve security and stability and achieve sustainable development."

"The resilient Egyptian nation, steeped in history, firmly believes that possessing a reasonable level of strength is the primary guarantee of security and peace," stated Zaki. He highlighted that "current global events, notably the perilous and delicate developments surrounding the Palestinian cause, along with the misguided military escalation shaping the ground reality, are designed to eliminate the Palestinian issue." In this context, the minister emphasized that "peace must be backed by a force capable of safeguarding it and ensuring its enduring existence."

EDEX is held every two years under the patronage of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The exhibition, which was first held in 2018, is expected to be attended by approximately 35,000 representatives of the military industry from around the world. Several defense industry companies from Russia are participating in the exhibition.
