Over 5,500 Truckloads of Humanitarian Aid Delivered to Gaza Strip Since October

10 January

Since October 21, 2023, more than 5,500 trucks loaded with humanitarian aid have been delivered to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, as reported by a spokesperson for the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.

"Since the beginning of the process of transferring humanitarian aid on October 21, 2023, 5,625 trucks have been accepted through the Rafah crossing in the Strip, delivering food, drinking water, medicines, and other necessary items to the enclave," stated the Palestinian Red Crescent spokesperson, as quoted by Al-Qahira Al-Ikhbariya.

During this period, Egypt dispatched 88 equipped ambulances to the Strip, which were distributed to medical institutions according to the established system by the Ministry of Health.

Out of the total humanitarian vehicles, approximately 3,800 were received by branches of the Palestinian Red Crescent, while just over 1,700 were handed over to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA). The direct distribution of aid in Gaza is being managed by staff from the Palestinian Ministry of Social Development.

The distribution of medicines and medical supplies follows a specific schedule: around 60 percent of the delivered medicines go to the enclave's Ministry of Health, slightly over 20 percent are directed to local public hospitals and private clinics, and the remaining portion is distributed by UNRWA.
