A group of Lebanese citizens left Khartoum safely on Sunday and reached Port Sudan on the Red Sea by land, Acting Lebanese Minister of Foreign Affairs and Migration Abdallah Bou Habib announced.
"Their evacuation was organized by the embassy," he wrote on his Twitter page. - "Fifty-one people arrived at the hotel, which is in a safe location."
According to the acting foreign minister, preparations are being made to transport the Lebanese citizens by sea to the Saudi port of Jeddah, from where they will fly back home.
According to the Elnashra news portal, the Lebanese embassy is now confirming whether all of the country's citizens have managed to evacuate to Port Sudan.
Earlier, it was reported about 60 Lebanese in the war-torn Sudan.
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati said Saturday that the authorities would help all fellow citizens to leave the African country and ensure their trip to their homeland.
The situation in Sudan has deteriorated because of a disagreement between army commander Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, who also leads the Sovereignty Council, and Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo (Hemetti), head of the rapid support force (special forces) and his deputy in the body. On April 15, clashes broke out between the two entities near the military base in the city of Merowe and Khartoum. According to the Ministry of health, more than 600 people have been killed in the country since the fighting began. In turn, the World Health Organization reported that the victims of the conflict were 420 people, more than 3.7 thousand were injured.
