Pakistani security forces have killed three terrorists involved in last week's bombing of a mosque in the city of Peshawar. It was reported by The News International newspaper on Thursday.
According to its information, during a special operation, a cell of the terrorist organization "Islamic State" (IS, banned in the Russian Federation), which operated in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, was liquidated. Its extremists were found to be responsible for attacks on civilians and policemen, as well as for the bombing of a mosque in Peshawar. The murdered terrorists were identified.
The immediate perpetrator of the attack was a local man named Ihsanullah, who had previously traveled to Afghanistan, where he developed ties with the IS. In Afghanistan, police said, he trained for the Peshawar attack.
On March 4, two armed suicide bombers attempted to enter Friday prayers at a mosque in the city of Peshawar, the administrative center of Pakistan's Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. They opened fire on police guarding the entrance to the building. During the exchange of fire, an extremist managed to break into the mosque and detonate an explosive device attached to it. The explosion killed 64 people on the spot and injured 194 others.
