On Monday, Anwar ul Haq Kakar from the Balochistan Awami Party was sworn in as Pakistan's interim Prime Minister, as reported by the Dawn newspaper.
The inauguration took place at the presidential palace in Islamabad, with the oath of office administered by President Arif Alvi. The event witnessed the presence of notable figures from both the civilian and military leadership of the country, including outgoing Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif, Pakistan Army Chief of Staff Asim Munir, Chairman of the Senate (upper house of parliament) Sadiq Sanjrani, and other prominent political figures.
Anwar ul Haq Kakar will hold the position of Pakistan's head of government for a duration of three months. As per the country's constitution, general elections are mandated to be conducted within 60 days following the dissolution of the lower house. If early dissolution occurs, the elections are to be held within 90 days. However, considering the necessity to hold elections based on the latest census data, the electoral process in the Islamic Republic could potentially be postponed until February 2024.
