Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will travel to Turkey on Thursday for a two-day visit as a gesture of solidarity with the Turkish people affected by the February 6, 2023-earthquake. The press office of Pakistan's foreign ministry announced this on Thursday.
"During his stay in Ankara, the prime minister will meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to personally convey sincere condolences on behalf of the entire Pakistani people for the loss of life and extensive damage caused by the earthquake," the press release said.
It is noted that the head of the government of the Islamic republic "will visit the disaster-stricken areas in southern Turkey and speak to the Pakistani search and rescue teams operating in the area, as well as to the survivors of the earthquake."
"Pakistan and Turkey have a deep fraternal bond. Our countries have strongly supported each other during all trials and tribulations," the statement stressed.
