Palestine Asserts Gaza Strip Management as Internal Matter, Rejects External Interference

11 January

In a joint statement released following an emergency meeting of prominent Palestinian factions, including the radical Hamas movement, a clear stand was taken: the management of the Gaza Strip is unequivocally an internal Palestinian matter.

"The management of the Palestinian issue, the management [of] the Gaza Strip [issues] is an internal Palestinian national affair. And we will not allow the occupier (meaning Israel - TASS) and its supporters to interfere or in any way impose guardianship over our people," declared the document posted on Hamas' Telegram channel.

The factions expressed condemnation of Israel's plans, specifically targeting the displacement of Palestinians from their lands. The condemned actions also included the establishment of new Jewish settlements in the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem, along with the aim to assert full control over Islamic and Christian holy sites.

United National Position

"We reaffirm our united national position that there can be no arrangements or agreements for the exchange [of prisoners] without a complete cessation of the aggression against our Palestinian people. We express our full support for the efforts being made to assist our people and alleviate their suffering," stated the joint statement.

The factions emphasized that resistance to Israel "in all its forms is a legitimate right against the Zionist occupation and its supporters, it will continue until the Palestinian people achieve freedom, independence, and self-determination."

Despite reports from The Jerusalem Post stating Israel's intention not to establish administrative control over the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian factions remain resolute. The Israeli plan, led by Defense Minister Yoav Galant, involves integrating existing civilian administrative structures in Gaza into a broader "local government" that excludes supporters of the Palestinian Hamas movement, which was in full control of the enclave before the outbreak of hostilities.
