Palestine has sent a letter to the UN Security Council asking for action to be taken in connection with the escalation of the situation in the Gaza Strip in the past few days. As it is mentioned in the document, the Palestinian people are in need of international protection under the conditions of illegal Israeli occupation.
Meanwhile, it emphasizes the necessity to bring Israel to justice for "these crimes and all the crimes that it continues to commit in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem".
It is known that in the past few days the situation in the Gaza Strip has deteriorated significantly. The exchange of blows killed four Israelis and at least 25 Palestinians.
Earlier, the parties of the conflict have managed to agree on a temporary armistice.
