Palestine called on Arab countries to refuse to participate in an economic conference in Bahrain.
Secretary of the Palestine Liberation Organization Executive Committee (PLO), Saeb Erekat stated that "all Arabs have committed themselves to accept everything that the Palestinians will accept”.
According to Erekat, Saudi Arabia, for example, “does not need any economic conferences on Palestine”, since it assists the Palestinians on a monthly basis and is “the most zealous country in supporting the Palestinian people”.
Also the Palestinian authorities have repeatedly stated that the conference, which will be held in Bahrain on June 25th-26th at the initiative of the United States, is in fact aimed at circumventing the Palestinian national aspirations.
Meanwhile, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have already confirmed their participation in the event.
