Palestine Welcomes Saudi Arabia's Support for Palestinian Rights

07 February

The Palestinian authorities have expressed their appreciation for Saudi Arabia's steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.

"We welcome Saudi Arabia's firm stance on the realization by the Palestinian people of their legitimate rights, especially the right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state within the June 4, 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital," remarked Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh, as quoted by the WAFA news agency.

Shtayyeh continued, "We highly appreciate Saudi Arabia's position calling for an end to the aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, withdrawing the occupation forces from there" He emphasized Riyadh's significant role in advocating for peace in the region, stating that "the international community, including the permanent members of the UN Security Council, [should] recognize the Palestinian state, which is the path to peace in the region and the world."

The kingdom's Foreign Ministry recently underscored that Saudi Arabia would go for normalization of diplomatic relations with Israel only on condition of recognition of the State of Palestine and withdrawal of troops from Gaza.
