Palestinian Foreign Minister to Visit Moscow

22 September 2023

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad al-Maliki is planning to make a working visit to Moscow in the near future, although specific dates are still under discussion. This information was shared by the Palestinian ambassador to Moscow, Abdel Hafiz Nofal, in an announcement to TASS.

"The visit is scheduled to take place. We've reached an agreement with the Russian Foreign Ministry for him to come to Moscow toward the end of this month. However, we will finalize the details after Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov returns from New York," the diplomat stated in response to an inquiry.

During the visit, the Palestinian side plans to address various topics, including bilateral relations, the situation in Palestine and its vicinity, as well as the potential reactivation of the Quartet on the Middle East settlement (comprising Russia, the US, the UN,  the European Union).

Nofal also highlighted the active participation of the Palestinian delegation, led by al-Maliki, at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. He expressed the consistent appreciation for Russia's stance in both UN forums and bilateral interactions, concluding his remarks on a positive note.
