Palestinian Foreign Ministry Urges Immediate European Union Recognition of State of Palestine

22 January

The Palestinian Foreign Ministry has issued a compelling call for the European Union to immediately recognize the State of Palestine in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter).

The statement also urged the international community to hold Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accountable for obstructing all opportunities for achieving peace.

Netanyahu's recent declaration on January 18, expressing Israel's commitment to continue its operation until achieving a "decisive victory over Hamas," and rejecting the idea of a Palestinian state, has heightened tensions.

Adding to this sentiment, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas' spokesman, Nabil Abu Rudeineh, emphasized that US authorities should move beyond mere discussions of a two-state solution and formally recognize the State of Palestine.
