In a recent telephone conversation, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani discussed the evolving situation in the Gaza Strip and the occupied Palestinian territories, the Palestinian news agency WAFA reports.
"President Abbas underscored the urgency to halt the persistent Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people and to prevent the displacement of Palestinians in both the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including Jerusalem," the agency noted.
On the other hand, the Qatari emir updated Abbas on regional and international initiatives aimed at achieving an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and de-escalating the situation in the occupied Palestinian territory. He highlighted the significance of maintaining the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza to foster peace and stability in the region.
"Both leaders examined the collaborative efforts being made with Arab nations to curb Israeli aggression across the Palestinian territory, expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip, and swiftly restore water and electricity supplies. Their aim is to enable hospitals and shelters to provide immediate relief and ease the suffering of the Palestinian people," WAFA writes.
