Palestinian factions set to convene in Moscow at the end of February aim to finalize an agreement on the establishment of a unified Palestinian government comprised of technocrats, Ayman Raqab, a member of the governing faction within the Palestine Liberation Organization's Fatah movement, told a TASS correspondent.
"We anticipate reaching an agreement on the formation of a unified Palestinian government of technocrats at the forthcoming Moscow meeting," Raqab stated. He emphasized that such a government would be devoid of political objectives, expressing confidence in overcoming differences on this matter during the inter-Palestinian gathering.
Raqab asserted that the upcoming meeting, facilitated by Russia, is expected to yield more productive outcomes than previous ones. He noted that Palestinian factions have positively responded to Russia's proposal to convene the meeting in Moscow, especially concerning the necessity of a unified technocrat-led Palestinian government.
The Palestinian leadership is committed to resolving differences with factions in the Gaza Strip, Raqab added. He cautioned that failure to achieve reconciliation at the Moscow meeting could prolong the crisis among Palestinian factions.
On February 16, Russian Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov informed TASS that the inter-Palestinian meeting is scheduled to take place in Moscow from February 29 to March 1-2.
