Pashinyan called long-term assurance of achieved peace in Karabakh a priority

Long-term ensuring of the achieved peace in Nagorno-Karabakh is the priority of the Armenian government, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told on Friday during his address to the nation.

"Today the important goal is to preserve the peace achieved, make it durable and, if we can make it permanent, much better. Today's important goal is to ensure stability and security around Armenia and Artsakh (unrecognized Nagorno-Karabakh Republic), and to ensure the security of Artsakh. And for this it is necessary to implement the agreements of November 9," he noted.

Pashinyan pointed out that there are forces in the country that want to sow chaos through their actions. "Some forces are trying to create the appearance of a lack of power in Armenia. They want to sow chaos in the country to ensure their return to power. However, we will not allow it. We don't hold on to power, but the people don't want their return," Prime Minister said.

Since November 10, opposition protests have been held in Armenia demanding Pashinyan's resignation. The opposition accuses him of signing a trilateral statement according to which seven districts around Nagorno-Karabakh and part of the territory of the most unrecognized republic should pass under Azerbaijani control.
