Armenia is effectively cooperating with the Russian side to resolve the border situation with Azerbaijan, Acting Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told locals living in the border village of Kut in the Gegharkunik province on Thursday.
"We are working very effectively with our Russian partners, as you know, the defense minister and the deputy chief of the Armed Forces General Staff are in Moscow," he said in response to a question from a local resident about what Russia and the CSTO are doing to resolve the situation on the border with Azerbaijan.
On Thursday Baku claimed that a group of Armenian servicemen attempted to cross into Azerbaijani territory, resulting in six people being taken prisoner. The Republic's Foreign Ministry said the Armenian military attempted to commit a terrorist attack by mines on the road. The Armenian Defense Ministry confirmed the fact of the capture of servicemen but said they were captured during engineering works in the border zone of the Gegharkunik province of Armenia. Pashinyan called the incident a kidnapping of Armenian servicemen.
