Pashinyan: Yerevan is ready to unblock regional communications with Baku at any moment

31 October 2022

Armenia is always ready to unblock regional communications with Azerbaijan, but is sure that new routes must remain under the jurisdiction of the countries they pass through. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this on Monday at a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Sochi.

"Regarding the unblocking of regional communications, Armenia is very interested in this issue. We are ready at any moment to go for concrete solutions on the basis of the 9th clause of the trilateral statement of November 9, 2020, and the trilateral statement of January 11, 2021. The essence of the issue is as follows: the communications which pass through the territory of the Republic of Armenia must be under full control of the Republic of Armenia and be operated in accordance with the Armenian legislation.

"The Border Guard Service of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation should monitor the implementation of the above-mentioned agreements," he added.
