Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov, addressing the surveillance of the family of war correspondent Alexander Kots, highlighted concerns about Kiev's alleged involvement in terrorist activities against Russian war correspondents. Peskov emphasized the need for caution, noting the involvement of special services while speaking to journalists.
"Our war correspondents are true heroes, risking their lives not only on the front lines to report events and share the reality with the world but also in their home countries, amidst peaceful conditions. The incident involving Kots and his family is a stark testament to this," expressed Peskov.
"We are aware that the enemy's terrorist activities aren't limited to the front lines; all are targets in one way or another," stated Peskov. He emphasized, "We deeply empathize with their plight, our agencies are providing assistance, and, of course, it's crucial to take every precaution here."
Previously, it was stated that the court placed Leonid Gutarov under house arrest for his actions involving war correspondent Alexander Kots. Gutarov had reportedly approached Kots' wife in an attempt to gather information about him. The investigation revealed that the accused had collected information about Kots for monetary gain. Between November 4 and 7, Gutarov covertly surveilled the journalist's family residence. Additionally, he deceitfully sought details about Kots' professional endeavors from the journalist's wife. Gutarov then transmitted the gathered information to an accomplice using the messaging app Telegram.
When asked to comment on a preventive measure for those under surveillance, Peskov replied, "Our law enforcement agencies and special services are well-versed in their actions. Let's trust in their expertise and take the necessary precautions ourselves."
