Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Official Representative of the Turkish leader Ibrahim Kalin.

"Indeed, such a meeting did take place," Peskov told reporters Thursday, commenting on reports that Kalin personally met with the Russian president in Moscow and discussed cooperation on the Akkuyu nuclear power plant.

Peskov said the meeting "discussed the implementation of major projects that are on the agenda between the countries, including Akkuyu." "[They] discussed how the [fuel] loading ceremony should be celebrated and held. As we said earlier, Russia will duly participate in the ceremony," the Kremlin spokesman clarified.

On Wednesday, Kalin said he personally met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow. He said he delivered Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's messages to the Russian leader, and the topics of Ukraine and the upcoming fuel delivery ceremony at Akkuyu were touched upon during the conversation. Kalin also said that the Russian leader had messages for Erdogan.
