The Kremlin is not commenting on acting Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's idea of placing Russian border checkpoints along the entire Armenian-Azerbaijani border, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.
"Contacts with Yerevan are continuing, I have nothing more to add," Peskov said, responding to a question about how the Kremlin views Pashinyan's initiative.
The spokesman noted that Russia has worked hard to restore the cease-fire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, and the work continues.
"Yesterday there was aggravation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border, you know that Russian representatives made a lot of efforts to restore the ceasefire regime. The work continues, Russia continues its contacts with Yerevan and Baku in order to ensure the full implementation of the trilateral agreements," Peskov said.
According to both sides, there were intense exchanges of fire on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border on July 28. According to Baku, two Azerbaijani servicemen were wounded, while Yerevan reported three dead and five wounded Armenian servicemen. On the same day, at the initiative of the Russian side an agreement was reached on a cease-fire from 09:00 Moscow time on July 28. However, on Thursday, the sides reported new shelling of their positions.
