Dmitry Peskov, the presidential spokesperson, believes that the settlement process in Nagorno-Karabakh should not become an arena for political competition between Russia and the United States. He expressed this opinion in a conversation with journalists on Monday.

"The process of settling the Karabakh crisis, which is at an acute stage, should not and cannot be a place for any rivalry or competition," Peskov said, answering the question whether the Kremlin believes that the United States has managed to do more in this direction than Russia.

The Kremlin representative stressed that "Russia, as co-chair of the Minsk Group [OSCE], is ready to welcome any steps that will help stop the war. "We now continue to closely monitor the situation in the zone of contact of the warring parties. We still believe that there can be no settlement but peaceful," Peskov emphasized.

In the evening of October 25, Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the mediation of the US, agreed on a new ceasefire for humanitarian purposes in the area of aggravation of the conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, it came into force on October 26 at 07:00 Moscow time
