The personal relationship and constructive attitude of Russian and Turkish presidents Vladimir Putin and Tayyip Erdogan allow finding harmonious solutions in controversial situations. This was stated by the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov in an interview with the program "Moscow. Kremlin. Putin" on the "Russia-1" TV channel.
"In addition to this, of course, we have a huge complex of bilateral relations [Russia and Turkey]. And when within this framework the two states are led by leaders who treat each other this way, who consider each other a man of their word and a man of action, this is a guarantee that even if there are disagreements, if there is a conflict of interests somewhere, the constructive attitude of the leaders will allow getting out of the situation harmoniously," he said.
Peskov added that Russia and Turkey are major geopolitical players that can and should make a significant contribution to security and stability in the region. "At the very least, make sure there is no war," he summarized.
Earlier, responding to a question at a large news conference, Putin called Erdogan a man "who keeps his word," despite the fact that their views "on certain issues may differ." In turn, the Turkish leader responded to Putin with a similar statement and said he considered the Russian president an honest man.
