Russian President Vladimir Putin is not yet planning to hold telephone talks with King Salman bin Abdulaziz al Saud of Saudi Arabia, Dmitry Peskov, the President's press Secretary, said on Thursday when asked whether the Russian leader was expected to have a conversation with the Saudi leadership on the eve of next week's meeting of the OPEC+ Ministerial Monitoring Committee.
"No, the President has no plans to talk to his counterpart in Saudi Arabia," the Kremlin spokesperson said.
The previous bilateral telephone conversation between Putin and the Saudi king took place on February 3 this year, and on April 10 and 12, three-way telephone conversations were held with the participation of US President Donald Trump. In addition, Putin repeatedly, including last spring, spoke by phone with the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, Mohammed bin Salman al Saud.
The OPEC+ agreement entered into force on May 1. It assumes a reduction in oil production by the alliance countries by 9.7 million b/d during May - July. The agreements will be valid for two years, but from August to December 2020, 7.7 million b/d will already fall under the reduction under the alliance, and from January 2021 to the end of April 2022 - 5.8 million b/d. The deal parameters may be revised in December 2021.
