Russian President Vladimir Putin is open to meeting with the newly elected US leader Donald Trump without any preconditions, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov stated during a briefing.
Peskov emphasized that arranging such a meeting requires Washington's readiness and political will. His remarks came in response to Trump’s announcement of his intention to meet with Putin.
"President Putin has repeatedly expressed he is ready to engage with international leaders, including the US president and Donald Trump," Peskov noted. "No preconditions are necessary. What is required is mutual willingness and political will to engage in dialogue and address existing issues through communication."
Trump previously mentioned that he hopes to meet with Putin within the first six months of his presidency and is ready for such discussions.
