13 July 2020

Russian-American relations are at their lowest point, Russian Presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said Russia-1 TV channel. "Our relations are still almost at a low point," a Kremlin spokesperson said when asked about the dynamics of relations between Russia and the United States.

"The situation is extremely bad - both bilaterally and in terms of the responsibility of our two countries for multilateral affairs, primarily on the topic of arms control and strategic stability," Peskov said.

According to him, there are contacts at the expert level in this area. "But they do not bring us closer to understanding our countries in terms of preserving some existing documents, first of all, the new Treaty, which is still the only document that can provide arms control on a global scale," Peskov said, recalling that it was Russia and the United States that had the largest nuclear capabilities in the world.

"None of the other countries, including China, by the way, which the Americans are trying very hard to invite to these negotiations, can match the volume of their arsenal with either America or us," the Kremlin representative concluded.
