It is difficult to talk about the reliability of information about Turkey's alleged deliveries of cluster munitions to Ukraine, but Moscow is closely monitoring the situation, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Wednesday.
"Here, of course, it is difficult to talk about the reliability of these reports. You know there are more fake than reliable and truthful reports. So, of course, we are monitoring all of this closely," Peskov said in response to a request to comment on data that Ankara allegedly began such supplies last October.
In this regard, he reminded that Russia is well aware of deliveries of Bayraktar and ammunition for these drones to Ukraine from Turkey. At the same time, Peskov noted that Turkey has obligations as a NATO member country and its own bilateral relations with other countries. "But at the same time, we and Turkey are still united by strong partnership relations, which are based on mutual benefit, on mutual understanding, mutual respect and mutual readiness to discuss the most difficult problems," the presidential spokesman stressed.
Earlier, the Foreign Policy magazine with reference to the American and European officials stated that Turkey, since November 2022, has started deliveries of the US-developed cluster munitions from the Cold War era to Ukraine. According to the report, the ammunition is the so-called Dual-Purpose Improved Conventional Munition, which was produced in Turkey during the Cold War as part of an agreement with the United States. They are designed, among other things, to destroy armored vehicles.
