All those in Russian president Vladimir Putin's entourage who fall ill have not been revaccinated in time; they experience covid either asymptomatically or in a mild form, president Putin's press secretary Dmitry Peskov told TASS.

"Of those who fell ill in the presidential entourage, almost all of them had some time after vaccination, the titers dropped, and they were not revaccinated in time. Therefore, unfortunately, they were infected. But almost everyone is asymptomatic or has a mild form of the disease, there are no severe cases," said Peskov.

The Kremlin spokesman said the main reason for the incident was "lack of timely revaccination".

Earlier, Peskov told reporters that the self-isolation that Putin was forced to go on Tuesday because of contacts with those infected would last at least a week, with the president working as usual.

Putin himself, speaking by video link at a summit of the Collective Security treaty organization, said that "not one, not two," but several dozen people in his entourage had fallen ill with covid.

Peskov said there was no doubt about the effectiveness of Sputnik V

Cases of covid disease in Russian president Vladimir Putin's entourage do not call into question the effectiveness of the Sputnik V vaccine, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters Thursday.

"No, it does not," the Kremlin spokesman said when asked whether the president's statement that dozens of people in his inner circle were infected questioned the effectiveness of Sputnik V.

Peskov recalled that "even those who are vaccinated can become infected."

"At the same time, we have repeatedly said that the vaccine with a very high percentage of protection protects you from resuscitation and death, but you can catch the virus and in a mild form can get over," the spokesman added.

Peskov said that in Putin's entourage, the covid was mainly contracted by employees who take part in ensuring his work and security. "These are mainly those who take part in ensuring the work and life of the head of state, his security," he said.

The Kremlin spokesman noted that "quite a large number of people are involved." "Indeed, someone has been infected and, since there is communication within the support group, there has been an infection of a significant number of people," Peskov summed up.

At the same time, he assured that despite the increase in the incidence of the disease, there are enough people to ensure the work of the president.
